Star Trek: EVERY Chief Of Security Ranked From WORST To BEST

11. Daniels - USS Enterprise-E

Lieutenant Daniels had a big, Klingon-shaped set of shoes to fill, and you know what? He held his own.

Leading security through First Contact and Insurrection, it can't have been easy when Worf turned up to breathe down his neck. But he defended the Enterprise admirably against the Borg invasion, popping up now and then in an ever more dishevelled state to report just how bad things were.

There's no doubt about it, Daniels had a core of steel. Picard ordered him to stand his ground against the Borg after they adapted to weapons fire, telling him to fight hand-to-hand if necessary. And Daniels' response? Aye Sir.

It might have been Worf and Lily who stood up to Picard's order to fight the Borg rather than evacuate, but Daniels was willing to follow that fatal order to the bitter end if needs be. Despite his obvious incredulity. And that depth of loyalty and duty is exactly what separates a mediocre security chief from a good one.

He also got to show off his tactical skill during Insurrection, even though his warning about Riker's reckless manoeuvres fell on deaf ears. But still, they managed to scrape through the battle of the Briar Patch in one piece...more or less.

It was the ebook series Slings and Arrows that finally gave him the name Pádraig, fleshed out his background as a demolitions expert and turned him into a family man. And that's the least he deserved after his service.

In all, Daniels might not be the flashiest security chief, but when the going gets tough, he's rock solid.
