A simply stunning callback this, but one that doesn't bode too well for the big one later on. But more on that later.

During our nostalgic shots of Picard longing to return to the stars, we get a quick look at a banner that reads Captain Picard Day. Admittedly, if you've not watched pretty much every single episode of The Next Generation this is a bit of a strange one, but its meaning is significantly... uh, significant.

First shown in the episode The Pegasus, Captain Picard Day was an activity the Enterprise's children would participate in every year; the premise simply being a giant celebration of the ship's captain. Outwardly, Picard hated the event and begrudged the attention, but privately it was something he was immensely proud to be a part of.

In short, in was a nice metaphor for the duality of his character, and his approach to family. Something that's also reflected by the fact he's now retired to Chateau Picard.
