Star Trek's Walter Koenig To Receive Hollywood Star

Walter Koenig, who played Pavel Chekov in the original Star Trek series, is set to receive his star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. He is the last cast member of the original crew to receive the honour and he will unveil the star on Hollywood Boulevard on September 10th 2012. It's being reported that the star will be close to the plaque of friend and co-star George Takei, who played Mr Sulu. A two-day celebration will coincide with the event. On 8th September there will be a gala event that will also mark the 46th anniversary of Star Trek which first aired in 1966. The following day Koenig will be on the receiving end of a roast at the Beverly Garland Hotel. Attending the celebration will be fellow Star Trek actors Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols, Grace Lee Whitney, Marina Sirtis, Alan Ruck, Armin Shimerman, Tim Russ, Gary Graham, J.G. Hertzler, Wil Wheaton, Jack Donner, Larry Nemecek, Malachi Throne, Richard Herd, Lawrence Montaigne. The honour will hopefully mark the beginning of happier times in Koenig's life who has had to deal with the death of his son, Andrew Koenig in 2010. The 41-year-old took his own life and was found hanging from a tree in Vancouver's Stanley Park, on February 25, 2010. The first original Star Trek cast member to receive a Hollywood star was William Shatner in 1983, who was followed by Leonard Nimoy in 1985, Gene Roddenberry in 1986, George Takei in 1986, Deforest kelly in 1991, Nichelle Nichols in 1992 and James Doohan in 2004.
