Supergirl: 6 Ups And 4 Downs From Episode 2 'Stronger Together'

9. Down - The 'S' Word

Did you know that Kara is Superman's cousin? Because she is. And did you also know that James Olsen has worked with the Man of Steel in the past, forming a pretty strong relationship with him? Because he did. You'd be forgiven if you didn't realise these things, as there were maybe two or three scenes in this episode where they didn't mention it. It was a concern last week about just how many references to Superman were in the episode, but that was more understandable given it was the pilot and they needed to sell the show. This time around it's even worse. Everytime Kara tries to save someone, she's compared to Superman. Whenever James is on screen, he's worked with Superman. Any time anything happens, there's something that links it back to Superman. Ok, she's Superman's cousin. We get it. It keeps talking about being something separate from Superman, but then can't stop talking about him. There's ways of littering the show with little Easter eggs that are fun for viewers. This isn't it.
