Supergirl Season 5 Review: 6 Ups & 3 Downs From Crisis On Infinite Earths, Part 1
3. Oliver's Last Stand
There was something incredibly poignant about watching an outnumbered Oliver Queen unleash his last arrows on an army of Shadow Demons, knowing that it wouldn't make much difference, simply because he knew it would make a little difference. And in that moment, that's all that mattered.
We've known that the Crisis would be Oliver's last stand for some time now, but seeing it take place on a rooftop on Earth-38 as he refused to return safety just highlighted how much of a hero he had become. This wasn't the vigilante that started his quest by taking out the elitists of Starling City due to a personal vendetta, it was a hero that was willing to lay down his life to save the population of an earth that wasn't his. That's what he like to call character development.
A triumphant, powerful but heartbreaking scene, we as viewers couldn't help but root for the Green Arrow and roar at him at the same time - wanting him to succeed but also wanting him to survive. Shocking as his demise was, this was a larger-than-life last stand - which is exactly what he deserved.
Screw interdimensional Shadow Demons, he's Oliver Queen!
