Having just finished up its fifteenth season, Supernatural currently stands as The CW's longest-running show, and one of TV's most iconic and popular series.

Throughout the show, Sam and Dean Winchester have faced off against demons, ghosts, vampires, gods, angels, and each other. Theirs was far from an easy journey, and for a minute there it looked as though the show was destined to go on forever. You could just imagine it gearing up for its forty-ninth season, as the brothers set out to save a possessed Castiel from a demon who has taken over Hell.

But fifteen seasons is what fans got, each one an emotional rollercoaster of literally biblical proportions. It was hard to say goodbye, but what a legacy it has left behind.

In honour of the show coming to an end, now seems a perfect time to take a trip down memory lane and remember the best and worst of what it has to offer. From the show's humble beginnings to the final stand against God, here are all 15 seasons of Supernatural ranked worst to best.

There's only one thing worse than a season of TV being bad, and that's it being forgettable. Supernatural's twelfth outing is the show's dullest and most uninspired affair. It's not necessarily bad, but it is lacking the punch the rest of the show conjured up with its stories. It's just kind of there, going through the motions but doing little to justify its existence.

Despite always being a lot of fun to watch, Lucifer's presence in season twelve sees him become stilted and boring, and the British Men of Letters remain some of the show's most unthreatening and pointless villains. Even Castiel seems left out in the cold, limiting his importance in the story until the sudden twist of the finale.

All that aside, there are some good spots, particularly in the return of the brothers' mother, Mary, who adds a solid level of drama when interacting with Sam and Dean. Other than this addition and some typically strong performances from the main cast, season twelve still stands as the most mismatched season of the show.
