TCGS is also noted for its ability to welcome depression with open arms. This episode, in all of its sad, absurdly sweaty glory, may be the one that revels in melancholy the most. Though, this emotional low point is necessary. Sometimes the show just needs its more somber moments.

It's an interesting look into sadness from the show's cast as well as its callers. In particular, the caller known as "Frank" delivers a wallop of a story that stands among the show's most memorable.

This rock bottom feeling might be what sets the public access episodes apart from the more recent run of cable television episodes. The sadness was a little more prevalent - running a show that you would pay for out of your own pocket and being plagued by a general uncertainty would without a doubt give every episode an uneasy quality.

And that's not to say that the new security attached to the recent run of episodes is a negative thing at all. That would be a righteously stupid thing to say. But the pervasive sadness that finally reaches a sort of peak in this episode is certainly what drove much of the show in its early years and often comforted a lot of its viewers in similar situations.
