What Happened: In the Flash half of the massive Flarrow crossover extravaganza, Barry Allen teams up with a visiting Oliver Queen to take down a metahuman whose gaze incites violent rage. Barry soon finds his cavalier methods of crimefighting clashing with Oliver's discipline; when the metahuman affects Barry, an epic showdown between Flash and Arrow ensues.
Barry uses his superpowers with a whole lot of creativity and comes very close to killing Oliver more than once, but Oliver draws upon his experience to outfight Barry. Skills defeated superpowers in the first Flarrow-verse conflict between leads, and Barry leaned a valuable lesson about discipline and preparedness in his mission.
Why It Was Great: There is really only one thing that is better than a high-stakes beatdown between a good guy and his archnemesis, and that is a high-stakes beatdown between two good guys.
The Flash vs. Arrow fight was just plain awesome. Everything from Barry branching out from his usual "run really fast to solve the problem" to the look on Oliver's face when Barry starts metabolizing the tranquilizer to Blake Neely's soundtrack was amazing. The highlight has to be the slow-motion fisticuffs in which Barry seems to be easily avoiding Oliver's blows... until Oliver learns Barry's weaknesses and lands a casual punch to his face.
Winner: Arrow
