Combatants: The Flash vs. Reverse Flash

What Happened: After Barry catches a glimpse of the man in the yellow suit who had killed his mother so many years ago, Barry gives chase. It is immediately apparent that this man - the Reverse Flash - far outmatches his opponent. He leads Barry to an empty football stadium, and the two proceed to make the most of their surroundings as they alternate between chasing through the seats in blurs of red and yellow and physically attacking. The Reverse Flash ultimately stops toying with the Flash and leaves, abandoning Barry with the taunt about his mother's death ringing in his ears.  

Why It Was Great: The midseason finale showed the first real-time clash of speedsters on The Flash, and it was fabulous. The football field setting allowed the two men to show off their speed and capabilities to the fullest extent, and it gave the sense that Reverse Flash was truly only playing a game with Barry. The show used restraint on the CGI, and the first speedster-on-speedster battle was a huge success for the audience...if not quite for Barry. Still, an battle between the good guy and his nemesis is always worth watching.
