Combatants: The Flash vs. a tsunami

What Happened: After the death of Weather Wizard 1.0 Clyde Mardon, Weather Wizard 2.0 Mark Mardon arrives in Central City with an eye for revenge on the man who killed his brother: Joe West. After hunting Joe throughout the city, Mardon successfully abducts Joe and takes him out onto a boat. He ensures that Iris (and Barry) are on the shore before using his powers to summon a giant tsunami and direct it toward Central City.

Barry's only option is to race back and forth along the shore at top speed to try to create a wall of wind to counter and dissipate the tsunami. As the Weather Wizard and the Flash try to overwhelm the other, Barry suddenly finds himself transported a day in the past.

Why It Was Great: Once again, the water effects were superb, and the image of the tsunami bearing down on the terrified innocents on the shore is the stuff of nightmares. What made the sequence truly unforgettable, however, is that it pushes Barry to the limit of his powers and sends him hurtling through his first experience with time travel.

Winner: The Flash
