Combatants: The Flash vs. an exploding corpse

What Happened: When an explosion rocks Central City, the army steps in to prevent the police department from looking too deeply into the source. Team Flash at STAR Labs determines that it was not an actual bomb that caused the damage; rather, a metahuman named Bette Sans Souci - dubbed Plastique by Cisco - was turned into a walking explosive by the effects of the particle accelerator.

When she tries to use her abilities to take down General Eiling, she is fatally shot. Barry needs to dispose of her body safely before it can explode and destroy Central City. He uses his speed to run on water, deposit her body in the deep, and race back toward shore before he too can be consumed by the explosion.

Why It Was Great: When the idea of Barry running on water first occurred to Team Flash, it was treated as something of a joke. When he is forced to use his superspeed to dump a body and save the city, the change in tone as well as impressive special effects rendered this sequence tragic in the best way.

Winner: The Flash
