The Flash: 10 Things We Learned From The Season 2 Premiere

3. Henry Allen Is A Free Man

The Flash Season 2 Henry Barry Allen
The CW

The most obvious repercussion of Harrison's confession, of course, is that Henry Allen is immediately freed from prison. It’s a massive development, and with so many expected plot beats having been hit this episode, from setting up Jay Garrick to the larger battle with Zoom, this one was completely unexpected.

The way it was handled may have been the episode’s biggest misstep, however. What should have been an incredibly poignant moment between father and son instead came across as rushed. And before Barry can even process what’s happened, Henry is already coming up with some half-baked reason for why the show can’t have him stay in the picture full-time.

Even with Henry not really around, it’s impossible to deny how big this was. Despite spending so much time fighting Wells, freeing his dad was Barry’s real goal from Season 1. And though he had no hand in making it happen, he finally got what he wanted. Now we'll just have to wait and see if Harrison was right.
