The Flash: 10 Things We Learned From The Season 2 Premiere
2. Zoom Is Sending Bad Guys
The identity of Season 2’s big bad has been an open secret for a little while now. The speed demon Zoom is the one who’ll be plaguing the Flash this year, and while we don’t actually meet him here, we get our first hints at his existence.
When The Flash confronts the dying Atom-Smasher, he makes it clear that none of this was his idea. With his dying breath, he reveals that “he promised to take me home if I killed you.” When the Flash presses to find out who, he’s given only a single name, “Zoom.”
Zoom’s ultimate motivations will likely remain unknown for the foreseeable future, but it’s clear that he’s going to be sending plenty of other villains Barry’s way. The premiere does a very effective job of establishing the threat with just a couple lines of dialogue, showing that he’s powerful enough to manipulate other villains and has a very singular goal in mind: killing the Flash.
Zoom has appeared in previews for next week’s episode so it looks very likely that we’ll be seeing him in a physical capacity very shortly.
