The Flash: 8 Craziest (And Most Believable) Reverse-Flash Theories

6. He's Barry Allen

That's right, despite his villainous actions, there are those who believe that Dr. Harrison Wells is an older Barry Allen. The theory is that during their battle in 2024, The Flash and Reverse-Flash returned to the past and had their showdown before Nora Allen and the young Barry (as was shown in the pilot). Somehow, Barry was left powerless and trapped in the past though, forcing him to become Wells and wait until he could train his younger self. It's easy to pick a ton of holes in this suggestion, but most of those could actually be explained away by the ramifications of time travel. It would also make sense of why Wells has been shown to be low on speed force and why he's so determined to help Barry become as powerful as possible. Is it also why this older Barry wants to make sure the future comes to pass as he knows that it's the only way to ensure that The Flash is created? It all becomes a bit headache inducing when you start mulling over that side of things, but Wells being Barry is certainly possible. Why is he dressed as Reverse-Flash? Well, when a powerless Flash is left stranded in the Flashpoint world, the villain ridicules him by leaving the hero with a ring housing his costume to let Barry know that he's the one responsible for trapping him in this newly created timeline. It's overcomplicated, but worth bearing in mind.
