The Flash: Ranking Every Major Death Worst To Best
3. Nora Allen
This was the death that started it all. It's one of the most famous deaths outside of Gotham and Krypton, and it's possibly the most important of all DC comics. For one reason, like many other comic-book characters, the death of a loved one motivates them to be better people. The second reason is that this death sets up a series of crucial events to the DC timeline. Fans of the show know that when Barry tries to save his mother by going back in time, things do not go well.
Flashpoint is one of the most famous storylines in comic-book history, and Nora Allen is at the heart of it. Young Barry has the road laid out before him by Reverse-Flash before he's even aware of it. And he learns that no matter how badly he'd like to go back and save her, Nora's death is necessary.
Barry learns the tragic truth that his mother will always have to die. Adding insult to injury, Barry has to experience it twice. It truly marks the struggle and acceptance that many superheroes have to undergo. No matter how fast they run, how much strength they possess, they can't save everyone, and they even may have to let some go.
