The Flash Season 2: 11 Big Questions We're Asking After 'The Reverse-Flash Returns'
9. Can Zoom Top Reverse-Flash?
Zoom may be the big villain of Season 2 of The Flash, but the show has taken a break from him since it returned, instead focusing first on Turtle and now the return of Reverse-Flash. Even though it's a different man in that yellow mask, it was great to see the character return, and an instant reminder of how great he is and how big an impact he made last year. That's what Zoom is contending with. Reverse-Flash was a fantastic villain. He had mystery, menace, and a deep connection to the hero. Zoom might be even more powerful, but aside from the question of who he is - something the show doesn't seem all that invested in anyway - there's not all that much exciting about him, especially since the mid-season finale 'reveal' that he was fattening Barry up to steal his speed. Given Zoom's power, he should be far more interesting than he is at present. The return of Reverse-Flash, while an intentional distraction, is actually too much of a one, and just puts starker contrast on how much work needs to be done to make this new villain as great as last year's.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
