The Flash Season 3: 7 Ups And 2 Downs From 'Paradox'

4. Flash To Flash

The Flash Barry Jay Garrick
The CW

With that cat out of the bag in regards to the real Jay Garrick following the conclusion of Season 2, it was great to see Jay pop up in Paradox to give Barry some much-needed advice.

Many may have gotten a kick out of seeing Jay take Barry back to 1998 and to a time where Dawson’s Creek was ruling the airwaves, but there was far more to this meeting than just merely nods and winks to fans. Instead, we got to see Barry get some advice from somebody who has been there, done it, and bought the t-shirt when it comes to time travel and all things Speed Force.

Even though he’s already seen the chaos caused by going back in time, Barry was about to do the very same thing again… until Jay intervened. It turns out that Garrick has been watching the Scarlet Speedster from afar, keeping an eye on him following the events of Season 2 and Barry’s battle with Zoom.

Seeing Jay Garrick back on the show was great, and seeing John Wesley Shipp in any form is always fantastic. There are very few people who can truly understand what it feels like to have the power of The Flash and to have the pressures that come with that, and so seeing Jay stepping in to mentor Barry makes perfect sense, whether that be as a one-off or as something that we may see more of throughout Season 3.
