The Flash Season 5: 6 Ups & 1 Down From ‘Blocked’
4. More Than Meets The Ice
One of the episode's most endearing arcs (there were a lot of them) didn't come until about half way through and it was somewhat unexpected. Caitlin had spent the first half of this episode solely focused on helping Cisco get over Gypsy. While there had been references to the ambiguity surrounding her father's death certificate, we just expected that to be one of the more long-running arcs and, as a result, Caitlin's role in this episode was simply to be Cisco's best friend.
However, that all changed when the seemingly despondent Cisco (and Ralph) attempted to help her investigate the matter, which only led to a surprising outburst. It was then revealed that Caitlin was nervous about discovering the truth because, if her father was alive, it meant that he didn't make any effort to connect with her.
Suddenly, the woman who had been defined by her icy alter-ego for the past year, was back in the driver's seat and tugging incredibly well on our heartstrings. Danielle Panabaker's emotional performance reminded us that there is so much more to Caitlin than Killer Frost and, let's hope we get the chance to really connect with her once more before the badass ice queen returns.
