The Good Place Season 2 Finale: 9 Big Questions That Must Be Answered In Season 3

1. Is It A Simulation Or Are They Really Alive?

In Somewhere Else, it's not clear what has actually happened. The events in Eleanor's story take her back to the moment of her death, and instead of dying she lives and decides to try and be a better person.

All this plays out as though on Earth, so does this mean that they've somehow managed to bring Eleanor back to life and put her back into the world at the time she would've died? That's what it looks like, but that's not only a major retcon, but also an insane display of power.

the alternative, then, is that this is merely a simulation. Michael and the Judge are testing the humans by making them think they're living life as normal, when really it's a ploy to see if they can become good. This option makes more sense, because otherwise it's hard to see what the goal is, but you can never be sure with this show.
