The Office: 10 MORE Insane Details You Definitely Missed
1. The Schrute Farms U.S. Flag Only Has 15 Stars (Because It's 200 Years Old)
In the few episodes where we visit Schrute Farms, you probably clocked that Dwight has an American flag hanging by the front door, but you probably didn't notice that the flag only has 15 stars on it, as opposed to the usual 50 to represent every state.
The 15-star flag was used between May 1st, 1795 and April 12th, 1818 to represent the 13 colonies and the subsequent admissions of Vermont and Kentucky to the Union.
The implication of course is that Schrute Farms was founded between those dates - later confirmed to be 1812 - and because Schrute's a little Old Testament about things, he proudly never bothered to update the flag.
Though the series has periodically touched on the wider history of Schrute Farms, there's a major detail hiding right in front of your very eyes.
