Kelly's obsession with celebrity culture, on and off relationship with Ryan, and general shallowness made her a perfect antithesis to many other staff members, which helped her to gain a stable place on the roster.

Although her presence in the series never felt entirely integral, she often played a crucial role in the episodes' sub-stories, which is a significant position. Additionally, the on again off again relationship she had with Ryan was a great aspect of the show, as it acted as a perfect antithesis to the traditional sit-com romance and poked fun at it.

Kelly may not have been the most trustworthy person, but her presence in the show was always funny, and she did a great job of maintaining her relevance in Scranton.
