The Simpsons: 10 Most Underrated Characters
1. Lenny Leonard
In the end, though, there is one great underrated character who beats them all, and that's Lenford "Lenny" Leonard. Aside from having one of the show's best (worst) names, Lenny remains one of the show's most hysterical, multi-layered and compelling creations.
A close friend of Homer and regular at Moe's Tavern, despite not being a main character and usually being portrayed as a chill, laidback dude, Lenny seems to have done more than most people on the show.
Outside of holding a masters degree in nuclear physics and being genuinely good at his job at the Power Plant, he's also a decorated war hero, a Stonemason who outranks Mr Burns, and his friendship with Carl Carlson (another great character) has opened up many great moments for the unsung funny man.
Over the course of the show, he's often been relegated to background character in Homer's (mis)adventures, seen either at the bar, at work or at the town hall.
If the writers realised how brilliant a character they had created, bursting with possibilities, they'd give Lenny more time to shine, because he'd own it.
