The Simpsons: 10 Underrated Episodes No One Talks About

5. Marge On The Lam

The fifth season of The Simpsons falls right in the middle of the show's golden age, and thanks to being surrounded by the likes of 'Homer's Barbershop Quartet', 'Cape Feare', and 'Rosebud', people often seem to forget about 'Marge on the Lam'.

The episode centres on Marge, and though she is rarely shown to have any close friends, her relationship with Ruth is wonderful and refreshing. It's a pity the Simpsons' neighbour seemed to just disappear from Springfield until season 14, as there was a real relationship that could have been explored here.

Even though Homer takes a bit more of a back seat in this episode, with his wife taking centre stage, his idea of what the ballet is, getting both arms stuck inside two different vending machines and his time with Chief Wiggum are all funny.

We also get treated to a lot of Lionel Hutz in this episode, and he is every bit as funny as you would imagine. In the earlier seasons of The Simpsons, before his tragic death, Phil Hartman was easily one of the show's best guest stars, something that is demonstrated perfectly in this episode. And never forget, sticking together is what good waffles do.
