The Simpsons: 10 Underrated Episodes No One Talks About
6. Behind The Laughter
Depending on who you talk to, season 11 could be considered the first season outside of the show's best years. Though not terrible, it is disappointing compared to the magic that had come before it.
The season still managed to finish strong however. 'Behind the Laughter' is unlike any of the other 700 or so episodes of The Simpsons, and features some of the most wonderfully meta humour the show has ever offered. This spoof of Behind the Music that looked at the 'behind the scenes' was easily the best episode of the season, and is above all else fun to watch.
Even before things got really bad for The Simpsons, the show proved that it was able to poke fun at itself, from Homer having to take over the Springfield Gorge stunt, to Lisa having to take growth hormones to prolong the series, and calling out the ridiculous plot of 'The Principal and the Pauper' as nonsensical.
This is such a unique episode, and genuinely full of laugh out loud moments, but it currently barely cracks the top 200 episodes on IMDb. It deserves to be much, much higher.
