The Simpsons: 10 Worst Episodes Ever

5. Moe Goes From Rags To Riches

Simpsons Every Man’s Dream
20th Century Fox

What do you do when Jeremy Irons agrees to guest star? Make him a bar rag apparently.

In this preposterous episode from season twenty-three, Moe finds himself the victim of a joke during a town meeting at his tavern. The folks of Springfield claim that his trusty bar rag is in fact his best (maybe only) friend. From there, we're treated to a story we never asked for, the origin of the rag. Eerily similar to the plot of 1998 drama The Red Violin, the episode doesn't work as a spoof, nor does it provide any of the intellect or Samuel L. Jackson the film did.

The subplot with Bart and Millhouse trading blows does little to perk up this swing-and-a-miss of an episode. There is a distinct dearth of jokes throughout the run time, proving even the most outlandish of concepts can lead to boredom.

The positive ending of Moe realising he has human friends after all in the form of the Simpsons family could've been nice. For it to work as a heart string tugger, however, the episode presiding it would've had to be a whole lot better.

John Cunningham hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
