The episode treats the Simpsons as if they are actors, detailing the troubles behind the scenes - for instance, Bart's stint in rehab, Homer's addiction to painkillers and the revelation that Lisa was secretly given anti-growth hormones. It could have jumped the shark but actually it is a sharp and funny take on the cliches of shows like Behind The Music. For authenticity it even has the show's narrator, Jim Forbes.
