The Simpsons: Every Treehouse Of Horror Ranked Worst To Best

8. IV. The Devil And Homer Simpson; Terror At 5 1/2 Feet; Bart Simpson's Dracula

The Simpsons The Shinning
Fox

Now, it's easy to forget how great the idea of introducing Ned Flanders as the Devil was way back at Treehouse 4, but it's a canon-making moment and a genius little spin on convention. In other words it's exactly what these episodes should be about (and what some of the more modern ones have lost). And of course Homer would sell his soul for something as measly as a donut.

The second segment sees another riff on a classic Twilight Zone episode (otherwise known as the William Shatner one). It's a shame Shatner didn't cameo, but the delivery of the goblin story - right up to Bart being sectioned even though the truth is known, is great.

And then in a hat-trick of horrors (imagine that!), the final segment plays on Bram Stoker's Dracula, and is mostly great apart from the dumb twist that Marge is actually the lead vampire. But at least it messed with expectations.
