The Simpsons: Every Treehouse Of Horror Ranked Worst To Best

19. XXI. War And Pieces; Master And Cadaver; Tweenlight

The Simpsons The Shinning
Fox

Opening segment War And Pieces is definitely one for the boardgame geeks, as a not at all timely Jumanji parody makes way for lots of board game related silliness. It's good fun, but it's far from the horror it really ought to be, even if there's enough charm in the Jumanji brand to give it a big pass.

The Dead Calm parody Master And Cadaver is pretty solid, especially as it's basically the escalation of an idiot brain trying to deal with covering up a murder he couldn't even carry out efficiently. The poor pelican who is killed to cover his tracks is a bit much, but the final reveal that it's all happening in Maggie's imagination and that she's destined to grow up a Clockwork Orange style maniac is a lovely touch.

Finally the Twilight parody probably has its fans in tweendom (especially as Daniel Radcliffe voices the Edward Cullen clone), but it's a Lisa episode and it loses it way narratively. So it can't score higher, sadly.
