The Umbrella Academy: Ranking Every Character Worst To Best
3. Hazel
It's probably not ideal for the writers that any of the Umbrella Academy should be outside of the top 7 of rankings like this, but that's partly thanks to the strength of the supporting characters. And in a lot of cases, characters as universally and immediately adored as Hazel would usually be the top star. Or would be in line for a spin-off pretty quickly at the very least.
Even "just" in his hitman guise, Hazel is already interesting (partly because Cameron Britton is an imposing guy and while he's not exactly athletic, the way he's choreographed makes him convincingly a real threat - there's something even balletic to it), but when he gets more depth he's even better.
There's a sort of mournful reflection to him and a gentleness in contradiction to his violence and the fact that his dream is simply to find a home makes him a beautifully written character. If he's not back in season 2, it's an absolute travesty.
