The Walking Dead: 10 Characters Who'll Survive Until The End
3. Rick
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: no one is safe on The Walking Dead. And according to creator Robert Kirkman that applies to The Walking Dead’s main protagonist Rick Grimes too. In fact, Kirkman has recently stated that Rick will not survive until the end in his comic series.
That’s all very well for the comics, but the show is a different beast entirely and though it’s stuck closely to some of the comics’ plotlines, it’s also veered away from them significantly at certain times. Whether AMC, taking viewer pressure into account, would be willing to kill off its main star prematurely seems kind of unlikely.
Not to mention that Officer Grimes has come a long way over the show’s eight season run, veering from ‘moral compass Rick’ to ‘crazy Rick’ to ‘despairing Rick’ and sometimes back again. And after all that, there’s still a bit of fairness in his character (despite the merciless murder of many Saviours and other rival groups) so it’d be kind of nice to see him survive and come full circle back to ‘good Rick’.
Plus, we did get that Old Man Rick flash-forward a few episodes back which seems to suggest he’s going to survive until the grey totally overtakes his hair and beard at least.
