The Walking Dead: 10 Most Underrated Episodes
4. Monsters (Season 8, Episode 3)
Like Thank You, season eight's Monsters is a divisive episode, but it might also be the strongest episode of the show's eighth outing.
Monsters is all about morality and the fine line between good and bad that is created in the midst of war. Rick struggles with his need to fight and win the war at all cost, whilst simultaneously no longer wanting to kill to secure peace. Daryl has given up on giving people a chance to prove themselves, killing everyone who's not on his side.
Though this shifting dynamic makes for some thrilling viewing, the episode's strength comes from the diverging views of Morgan (Lennie James) and Jesus (Tom Payne). As Jesus tries to keep some of the Saviors alive, Morgan fights with him every step of the way as he hopes to kill them all for their ways.
The tension builds and builds throughout the episode, until finally Morgan and Jesus come to blows. The fight is epic and surprising, especially given how strong Morgan is but how easily Jesus manages to best him, and perfectly highlights the conflicting views of the various main characters.
