But as the show went on, Carol showed her true colours, growing from an anguished lost soul to a capable survivor who would do anything and everything to protect her found family. She became a master marksman; an uncompromising killer; and a fighter so fierce it was often terrifying what she'd do to survive.

Heartbreakingly performed by Melissa McBride, Carol lost four children and most of her friends, but she always fought against the darkest that surrounded her. Fearless and compassionate, she wasn't without her flaws, but her perfectly understandable imperfections made her a character The Walking Dead would be lost without.
