4. Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun)
In a lot of ways, Glenn was the heart and soul of the show during the first six seasons, around since the very first episode and by Rick’s side through thick and thin.
At first, he was cheery, upbeat, and optimistic in the face of the world’s hopeless situation. But meeting Maggie, being tortured by Merle, and briefly losing his wife after the fall of the prison made him more sharp, wise and hardened than ever.
His death in Season 7 marked a clear turning point in the show, hammering home the fact that the survivors were way out of their element and had met their match. Though he’s gone, he lives on in fans’ minds as one of the greats, and on re-watches it’s great to see how far he came.
