The Walking Dead: Every Season 4 Episode Ranked Worst To Best
11. Inmates
Inmates is split into three parts, and unlike other episodes in the season's second half focusses on several different groups equally rather than simply focussing on just one.
The first part opens with Beth reading from her diary whilst she and Daryl flee from a herd of walkers. The episode then changes direction and sheds some light on Maggie's desire to find Glenn, Tyreese's attempts to protect Lizzie, Mika and baby Judith, and Glenn's team-up with Tara.
In a lot of ways watching like a set-up for the journeys each of these characters are about to go on, Inmates is elevated past its pacing issues by its tension and final introduction of series newcomers Abraham, Eugene and Rosita.
There are glaring issues, sure - including Glenn's underwhelming reaction to the death of Hershel - but even so it's an important episode the season would be lost without.
