The Walking Dead: Every Season 5 Episode Ranked Worst To Best

8. Conquer

The Walking Dead Conquer
AMC

Season five's extra-long finale Conquer features some of the best moments of the entire season, including the long-awaited return of Lennie James' troubled survivor Morgan, Daryl and Aaron's walker ambush, and Rick's rise to power in Alexandria.

Bringing Morgan back works wonders with the episode, which reveals he's no longer the broken man he was back in season three's Clear, but seems to have found peace ...and acquired some frightening new fighting skills.

Conquer also has Daryl and Aaron fighting off waves of walkers, Glenn fighting with a cowardly Nicholas, and Rick killing Pete in order to cement his place as a leader in Alexandria.

Incredibly violent, riddled with tension and brilliantly performed by its extensive cast, the finale has some issues with pacing (Sasha's still-tedious side-plot is more unnecessary than ever here, as is Gabriel's loss of faith), but in its best moments is a strong episode that signals the start of an exciting new era.
