The penultimate episode of season five, Try is almost entirely about Rick and how twisted the new world has made him. Not only does he clash with Jessie Anderson's abusive husband Pete, he also threatens to overthrow Alexandria's leadership.
Elsewhere, the episode also deals with Daryl and Aaron's latest hunt for other survivors, and Sasha's inescapable grief following the deaths of her boyfriend and brother earlier in the season.
Though the Sasha side of things is slightly tedious (her mourning becomes more unsympathetic and melodramatic as the season goes on), Rick's slip into near-insanity makes for riveting viewing, especially when he finally snaps and tells the Alexandrians how unprepared they are for the outside world.
It's thrilling stuff, anchored by Andrew Lincoln's gloriously deranged performance, and ends on a cliffhanger that leaves Rick's fate hanging in the balance.
