Morgan Jones' return at the end of season five was a welcome one that promised new drama for the core characters. He turned up with a new outlook on life and some deadly fighting skills to boot, and in Here's Not Here his backstory is finally revealed.
Told entirely through flashbacks, the episode charts Morgan's slip into madness and his subsequent friendship with peaceable cheese maker Eastman, a man who values human life, harbours some devastating secrets, and uses his past to pull Morgan out of his despair.
Anchored by the phenomenal performances of Lennie James and guest star John Carroll Lynch, Here's Not Here is a deeply thoughtful and informative episode, adding heaps of complexity to Morgan's story and complicating his relationship with the rest of the much more violent group in the process.
