The Walking Dead: Every Season 7 Episode (So Far) - Ranked Worst To Best

A depressing arc that saw most of our characters split up throughout the run finally came to a head in the midseason finale. Unlike many of the episodes leading up to it, this episode caught up with everyone, from Carol and Morgan's story to Daryl's escape from the Sanctuary to Maggie's growing reputation at the Hilltop to all those stuck with Negan within the walls of Alexandria, all while continuing to build a sense of dread throughout the episode.

The bleak tone the season's taken so far hit its peak with Negan's murder of the treacherous Spencer and the fallout of Rosita's choice to take a shot at Negan resulting in Olivia's death and Eugene being carted off. Fortunately, though, both characters and viewers finally got over the hill: By the end of the episode, Rick's eyes were open again. With the march to war finally beginning, Rick and the gang reunited with the Hilltop group - including the wonderful reunion between Rick and Daryl - ready to finally take action.

Compared to the season's grim premiere, the end of the midseason finale was the perfect dose of optimism and hope the show - and the audience, for that matter - needed. The band is back together again, and with The Kingdom ready to be pulled into the fold, this episode set the stage for an explosive second half of the season that can't get here any sooner.
