The Walking Dead: Every Season 8 Episode Ranked Worst To Best

14. Still Gotta Mean Something

The Walking Dead
AMC

Following on from the controversial death of his son Carl, Rick spends much of season eight's second half on a downward spiral of rage and self-destruction, a phase which reaches it peak in Still Gotta Mean Something.

In the episode, Rick teams up with Morgan to hunt down some loose Saviors, along the way getting themselves kidnapped and combatting some of their grief by massacring the Saviors they've just convinced to join their side. It finds Rick going full villain, but it's so choppily handled it just comes across as forced.

Alongside this, Negan is weirdly kidnapped by Jadis, and manages to break free and return to the Sanctuary. The entire subplot is laughably bad in both execution and its ambition, and can't be described as anything other than dull, episode-stretching filler.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Be excellent to each other. You can catch my other work here: https://halfwaydown.substack.com/
