The Walking Dead Season 11 Review - 6 Ups & 2 Downs From "Variant"

3. Up - Variant Walker

The Walking Dead Variant Eugene Daryl
AMC

Eleven years have passed and it looks as though some of the Walkers have finally evolved with the unexpected arrival of one clever variant.

While Aaron, Jerry, Lydia, and Elijah are behind the walls of an abandoned medieval theme park, they suddenly become overcrowded by zombies and must reach higher ground to escape. Out of all of the undead monsters, however, one of them demonstrates an ability to think.

They may be slow and a force to be reckoned in great numbers, but this singular being scared them all as it was able to climb, open doors, and even nearly killed Jerry with a rock. There may have been a fair share of zombies with unique characteristics in the show over the years, but none have been as scary or memorably terrifying as this one.

Whether there will be other variants like it is hard to predict, but it would be a welcome force to fight against after the dramatic tensions between the humans within the walls of the Commonwealth. It would also remind them of how important unionisation would be if a group of them started to climb their way over the very structure that protects them all.
