The Walking Dead Season 8: 10 Most Revealing Things The Cast Have Said

4. "He’s Kind Of The Lone Wolf Right Now"

The Walking Dead Season 8 Quotes

What Was Said?

"He’s kind of the lone wolf right now, you know? He’s in between two islands and every move that he makes, he has to be extremely careful. He’s on a personal battle to seek justice for himself and others. The angel on his left shoulder is talking a little louder now than the devil on his right.”

Who Said It?

Austin Amelio (Dwight) - Entertainment Weekly

What Does This Mean?

Amelio’s description of Dwight as a lone wolf indicates that the character could be spending a lot of time on his own in season eight. Might that be out on the road looking for Sherry, his ex-wife who escaped Negan's Sanctuary last season?

The fact that the angel is drowning out the devil in Dwight’s mind is a clear sign that he is not acting as a double agent for Negan, having offered to help Rick take down The Saviours at the end of season seven. But it isn’t clear if Dwight’s allegiance is fully with Rick’s militia either. He could just be using them to get the justice he needs, which is Negan dead.

If Rick and company do win the war, do not expect Dwight to live happily ever after as part of that community. He is a wildcard and his arc could be the most interesting of the season.
