10 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About Modern Doctor Who

We all love a great improvised line: "Hey, I'm walking here" from Midnight Cowboy, "You talkin' to me?" from Taxi Driver, The Joker clapping in The Dark Knight, and David Tennant dropping "Are you my mummy?" in The Poison Sky... right? Well, you've read the title, and unfortunately this did not happen.

In fact, there is precisely zero actual evidence for this being true. Helen Raynor's script for this episode can be found on the BBC's Writers Archive, and lo and behold, on page 36, scene 60, the Doctor is scripted to say, "Are you my mummy?" Throughout the two-parter, The Doctor and Colonel Mace had been butting heads. The Doctor, at this moment, still didn't take poor Colonel Mace particularly seriously, especially after showing the Doctor UNIT's new fancy Black Bullets.

 This has been a popular internet rumour for some time, in fact, even appearing in one of our older lists, but even George Tennant has reached out to dispute this fact. This is certainly a believable rumour; David Tennant is a well-known, big-time fan of all things Who and has quite the sense of humour; unfortunately, this one didn't prove true.
