Beast Boy is the alter-ego of Garfield Mark Logan, who has the metamorphic ability to transform into any creature from the animal kingdom. He's been a key member of several teams, including the Teen Titans, Doom Patrol, Young Justice, Titans West, and the Ravagers; and sometimes goes by the alias Changeling. As a child, Garfield contracted a rare illness called Sakutia, but was saved by his parents when they used an untested serum on him. The serum had unintended side effects, including the permanent green coloration of his skin and hair and his shape-shifting ability. His parents eventually died and he was raised by several foster families that turned out to be criminals. When those people were defeated by the Doom Patrol, Garfield joined their ranks and took on the name Beast Boy. Eventually Beast Boy uses his green skin to play extraterrestrial characters on a science fiction television series, but when it's cancelled he joins the Teen Titans. Beast Boy is not only characterized by his unique abilities, but his very adolescent attitude and fun-loving persona. He responds to the events around him with deep emotions, but is usually seen as the comic relief among his peers. His dynamics with the more conflicted characters like Nightwing or Raven would make for excellent television, while his powers may regrettably be a bit too hard to depict on a TV budget.
