Top 10 TV Bromances

3. Vorenus and Pullo (Rome)

None of the partnerships in Rome, including Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony, came close to the bond between these two. When Pullo hits Vorenus, his commanding officer, over the head at a battle against the Gauls for breaking ranks and fighting the enemy single-handedly, he soon finds himself in prison. Then, when the 13th Legion loses their eagle, Vorenus is tasked with retrieving it and decides to take the already disgraced Pullo with him to avoid further dishonour. Not only do they retrieve the Eagle, they rescue Caesar's nephew Octavion from the Gauls and secure a friendship with him that lasts well into his reign as Emperor. When Pullo finds himself back in Rome and out of work, only knowing a soldier's life, he turns to crime and political assassination. When caught, he's thrown into the gladiator pits. Vorenus is put under strict instruction not to help his fellow soldier, but when Pullo is near death, Vorenus jumps in and saves his life, both of them shouting €œThirteenth!€. This awesomely cheesy (but still awesome) display of manliness quickly thrusts them into the limelight as heroes, famous across the city. From there it's a brotherhood forged in blood and ends up becoming one of the most emotionally-charged partnerships in television. Throughout their two season run, Vorenus and Pullo help torture, kill, protect an Emperor, take over the criminal underworld, bed Cleopatra, travel to Egypt, and lose all their family except each other. Few characters on TV have gone through as much in such a short time, and that was what made Rome so compelling throughout. Best bromance moment: €œThirteenth!€ in the gladiator pits.

When not writing Chris spends more time thinking about playing videogames than actually playing them and can usually be found reorganizing his Blu Ray and book collections. He owns four different editions of A Song of Ice and Fire and no, it isn't overkill. He's left the neon haze of Tokyo and Seoul for the more sedate streets of Bournemouth.
