True Detective: 10 Dream Castings For Season 4

2. Michael Fassbender And Hugh Jackman

True Detective Season 4
BBC

Fassbender has a fascinatingly unpredictable career, with indie movies like Fish Tank and Hunger sitting alongside Oscar showpieces 12 Years A Slave and blockbusters like X-Men and Prometheus. With that level of diversity and the willingness to take risks, a southern noir crime drama would certainly be at home in his catalogue.

Fellow X-Men alum Hugh Jack will always be best known for Wolverine, and recent surprise hit The Greatest Showman saw him shine in another popcorn flick seat filler. Take a closer look at his work though, and Logan, Les Miserables and his numerous stage performances show he’s an incredible actor; much more than muscles and a smile.

Despite their X-Men link, the differing timelines and alternate footing as hero and villain means they’ve only shared a handful of scenes together. However, they (along with James McAvoy) frequently junket together and their chemistry is off the charts.

Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey were great friends before Season One was even cast, which makes sense given how famously laid back the pair are. Their closeness undoubtedly added to their performance, and though we haven’t seen it used in X-Men, it’s clear from interviews that Fassbender and Jackman are best buds too.
