True Detective Season 2: 10 Rumours You Need To Know
6. Every Male Actor Has Auditioned
The quality (and mainstream popularity) of the first season of HBO's prestige crime drama was assured when they'd confirmed the casting. Not only did they bring on board underrated screen actors like Michelle Monaghan and Kevin Dunn but they also scored a home run by securing bonafide Hollywood stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey in the starring roles. Not only did those two big names bring in viewers who might otherwise have passed the show over, but they also brought the requisite acting chops to properly play the sort of morally complex and interesting characters like Rust and Marty. It worked so well the first time around, why not try for it again? Well, that's exactly what they're doing. Rumours have been flying for months now, with breathless reports detailing anyone and everyone who's been called up for an audition. And we do mean everyone. So far we've heard talk that the likes of Colin Farrell and Brad Pitt have been brought in to test for True Detective's second season - who, based on their performances in the likes of In Bruges and Se7en (respectively), would be pretty perfect - alongside the slightly less believable names like Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn. Yeah, we're not sure about the latter two in terms of the actual "dramatic acting" thing, and we've still not got confirmation of who exactly will end up starring in the second season, but from this pool it looks like they're gonna be some more big names.
