5. It Looks Like Lance & Hunk Will Have Increased Roles
If the trailer is anything to go by, Lance and Hunk will feature heavily in the events of Season 3. They're the two pilots with the most screen time in the short clip, and while they've been relatively integral throughout the series so far, their characters haven't yet been explored to the degree of Shiro or Keith.
The trailer shows Hunk addressing a crowd following the Voltron Force's victory over Zarkon. We also see Lance taking a selfie with a group of adoring fans.
Apart from being a great shot, we know that Lance is brave (if a bit egotistical) and his flippant attitude disguises hidden depths. Despite his jealous rivalry with Keith, he's wholly devoted to Team Voltron's cause and willing to take decisive action to complete the mission. His family, and feelings of homesickness, were touched upon in previous episodes, but not completely explored. Expanding upon these elements of his character would make for excellent development.
Hunk has proven himself as intelligent, capable of complex feats of engineering genius and rapid acclimation to alien technology. Beyond his scientific genius, though, his main strength is his vast interpersonal intelligence. He meshes well with every member of the Voltron Force, and on more than one occasion has helped the team make inroads with unfamiliar societies. These skills make Hunk an excellent diplomat, a role he could be stepping into in future episodes.
