Westworld: Ranking Every Main Character From Worst To Best
5. Bernard Lowe
Bernard has been on an interesting journey on the show. His character was at the centre of the show's best twist when it was revealed that the studious and sympathetic head of behaviour at the park was actually a host himself. He then went on to be the audience's unreliable narrator in Season Two as he attempted to put his memories back together to recollect Dolores' uprising. Finally, in Season Three he felt like an after thought as he chased Dolores around being generally confuddled by everything going on.
Bernard is one of three main characters that really suffered from the narrative shift of Season Three (the others being William and Maeve). The show knows he will be important so he has to stick around but he really wasn't utilised here.
It's a shame because Bernard is the moral core of the show, ironically possessing more humanity than any of the other characters. Jeffrey Wright brings a vulnerability to the character that makes him relatable and he deserves better in Season Four.
Bernard feels like the Charles Xavier to Dolores' Magneto and that always made for a great dynamic between the two. Hopefully, he'll be back where he belongs at the forefront of the narrative going forward.
