Westworld Review: 10 Non-Spoiler Reasons It's HBO's Next Big Thing
2. It Gets A.I. Right
We've seen a lot of A.I. over the last couple of years, with the likes of Ex Machina on the big screen, and Humans on the small one. Both of those, the former in particular, are an example of how to get it right; other recent efforts, such as Terminator Genisys or Avengers: Age of Ultron show how easy it can be to get wrong.
Westworld, which is heading towards a Skynet-esque situation itself, falls into the first category. The robots here are fantastically well-realised, and blur the line between A.I. and human beings. Dolores is the best example of this, but they're littered throughout the park. It really allows us to spend time with the artificial beings, getting to know them, understand them, even care for them more than we do the humans. It's not just another 'us against them' tale; the battles lines in Westworld are far less clear.
