Westworld Season 2: 12 Stupid Blunders That Completely Ruined It

3. Dolores Has Been Completely Ruined

Westworld Season 2 Ed Harris
HBO

Oh Dolores, what have they done to you?

In the first season, Dolores was a fascinating lead character. Aided by her intriguing character arc of discovery and Evan Rachel Wood's brilliant performance, Dolores was the heart and soul of the show and one of the most fascinating screen androids in recent memory.

In the second season, Dolores was a cruel, murderous, psychopathic A-hole who was impossible to sympathize with, impossible to root for and completely devoid of any of the mystery and personality she once had. All she did was ride around shooting everyone. Has a mighty character ever fallen so far in the space of one season?

Evan Rachel Wood was still, all things considered, strong in the role but her character has been ruined beyond all repair. There's no complexity or meaning to her anymore. She is simply a one-note, irrational and charisma-free revolutionary who is driven only by revenge and not by any sort of logic.

Her story is so thin the writers clearly struggled to spread it out across the entire season, as shown by the way she sometimes disappeared for most or all of an episode, despite being Westworld's main character.
